Youth Development

FamilyWorks! ministries as recently partnered with Oregon Mentors.  There are several benefits for FamilyWorks! ministries by having this partnership.  These benefits include, free trainings for our staff that range from creating a development plan to effective strategies in youth development, finger printing and background checks for our staff and volunteers, and assistance in writing grants as a start-up program.  In addition, an intern with Oregon Mentors has agreed to write a dozen or more grants on our behalf targeting foundations that they know would be interested in the work we are doing.

Lions of Judah

The Lions of Judah is a group for boys that aim to get fathers or male father figures to invest time into those boys through the mode of outdoor adventure. The goal is to hold weekly meetings and go on an outdoor adventure every month. In the meetings and outings the boys are taught that there is more to being a man than reaching a particular age. Through positive adult male role modeling and a rigorous curriculum every member of the Lions of Judah has the opportunity to develop skills in: preparedness, responsibility, social awareness, community service, and the role of faith in their actions.

The Lions of Judah has been active since March of 2009 and has served 12 boys from the community, received help for conducting meetings and outings from 5 volunteers, and provided over 900 hours of service to those boys and their families!

Female mentoring program

We are currently working with key females who are interested in helping start a girls version of Lions of Judah. This program will be aimed at meeting the current needs of young girls as well as preparing them for their future.
